AIG offers a broad range of products to customers through a diversified, multichannel distribution network.About the roleWhat you need to know:Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this will will take charge of the budgeting process and monitoring of performance against budgets, IRA reporting compliance and preparation of timely and accurate management accounts. The position will work closely with other departments to facilitate participative approaches to financial reporting, forecasting and budgeting.ResponsibilitiesControl Environment & FrameworkManage the monthly financial close process and preparation of monthly management accounts as per the reporting timetable.Preparation of annual audited financial statements and disclosure notesIFRS 17 continued implementation and operationalizationProvide support in addressing audit queries relating to financial reporting.Preparation of statutory returns to the Insurance Regulatory Authority (monthly, quarterly, and annual returns) while ensuring their timely submission and other compliance matters as required by IRASupport the CFO in budgeting, enforcement of budgetary controls and tracking performance against budget.Contribute to financial forecasts, financial adjustments, written explanations for variances to forecasts and analysing options to enable budget holders make informed decisions on financial viability in order to implement remedial measures for changing course back to plan.Ensure that cost allocations across business lines, departments and branches are accurate.Preparation of Board packs and other ad hoc reportsPack reporting to Group Finance within deadlines for consolidation reporting.Participate in the month-end and year-end closing processes, ensuring adherence to tight deadlines and accuracy in financial reporting.Any other duty assigned by management.Audit & ComplianceEnsure adherence to audit requirements and implementation of audit recommendations.Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements.QualificationsUndergraduate degree in finance, accounting or related fieldMasters degree in a business related discipline is an added advantageProfessional qualification : CPA (K) or ACCAMember of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK)ExperienceRelevant insurance industry experience.Practical exposure to internal and external audits, budgeting, reporting and preparation of annual statutory financial statements.Previous working experience in a Big 4 audit firm is an added advantage.Strong understanding of technical accounting relating to the new IFRS 17Deep understanding of various types of reinsurance treaties and impact on the company's performance and solvencyStrong communication skills (both written & oral) and interpersonal skills to effectively work with different departments.Strong analytical, planning and organization skills.Proven ability to perform well under pressure and regularly meet strict deadlines a fast-paced environment.Excellent spreadsheet skills (Excel)Skills/CompetenciesTime Management: Ability to handle multiple priorities, organize work and meet deadlines.Attention to detail: Maintain accuracy of work.Communication: Effective communication skills at all levels of business.Strong team playerReimagining insurance to make a bigger difference to the worldAmerican International Group, Inc.
