DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare timely and accurate financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports.
Assist in the preparation of farm-specific budgets and forecasts based on farming operations, seasonal needs, and market trends.
Conduct variance analysis comparing actual performance with the budget and propose cost-control measures.
Track and report on farm operating expenses, ensuring all financial data is accurate and up-to-date.
Manage and reconcile farm accounts, including vendor and supplier payments, payroll, and other operational expenses.
Perform monthly, quarterly, and annual reconciliations of farm accounts and bank statements.
Maintain accurate records of farm assets and liabilities, ensuring proper documentation for audits and compliance.
Ensure seamless integration and use of ERP systems and Sage X3 for accounting and financial reporting functions.
Generate reports and extract relevant financial data using Sage X3 to support management in decision-making processes.
Ensure all accounting practices adhere to tax laws, statutory requirements, and other relevant agricultural regulations.
Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring accurate reporting and compliance.
Maintain records of farm inventory and assets, ensuring accurate valuation and depreciation schedules.
Collaborate with farm management to keep track of crop yields, livestock, and farm supplies in the accounting system.
KEY REQUIREMENT SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
Bachelor's Degree in Commerce (BCom) with a major in Accounting.
CPA is desirable
2-3 years of experience as a Farm Accountant or in a similar role within the agricultural sector.
Proficiency in ERP systems and strong working knowledge of Sage X3.
Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and statutory regulations.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial tools.
