Job Objective/Purpose
The In-charge construction & repairs is responsible for managing all construction, repair, and maintenance activities. This includes overseeing minor repairs, ensuring optimal performance, and managing large construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
Ensure the safety of the Construction & Repairs team by implementing and enforcing the use of PPE and adherence to Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) standards.
Perform routine inspections to ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations in construction and maintenance activities.
Oversee daily maintenance of building systems (backup power systems, laundry, lifts, kitchen, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry etc) to provide a safe, functional, and aesthetically pleasing environment.
Develop and manage a preventative maintenance schedule to minimize downtime and ensure optimal performance of all hospital facilities.
Plan and manage all construction and renovation projects, coordinating with contractors, architects, and internal departments to ensure timely and within-budget completion.
Ensure projects comply with safety, regulatory, and hospital standards, and meet functional and aesthetic requirements.
Monitor the look and feel of the facility, ensuring that repairs and maintenance support a positive patient and staff experience.
Track and record costs associated with repairs and services, providing reports to support budgeting and cost analysis.
Manage relationships with external contractors, ensuring work quality, safety, and alignment with hospital standards.
Develop and maintain service contracts, reviewing vendor performance regularly and addressing issues promptly.
Identify cost-saving opportunities in repair and maintenance without compromising quality or safety.
Lead, train, and supervise a skilled team of maintenance staff, promoting a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
Track KPIs such as response times for repairs, compliance with safety standards, and budget adherence, reporting on performance to senior management.
Provide monthly reports detailing maintenance activity, costs, and areas for improvement.

Person Specification
Diploma in Engineering, Facilities Management, Construction, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of building systems, OSH standards & safety regulations.
Minimum of 3 years in facilities management, with at least 1 year in a healthcare
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
