Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Library and Information Science;
Diploma in Library and Information Science with 6 years' experience;
Must be computer literate.
Experience, Knowledge and Skills
Library Experience: MUST have at least 3 years' experience working in a University library;
Experience with statistical or information management software may also be advantageous;
Proficiency in cataloging standards (e.g., MARC), metadata schemas and library protocols (e.g., Z39.50);
Experience with integrated library systems (ILS) or library management systems (LMS);
Familiarity with the LC Classification Scheme;
Must be a member of a relevant Professional Body.

Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities are necessary for managing library materials, shelving, and maintaining order;
Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills are important for interacting with patrons and providing assistance;
Interpersonal Skills: He/ She should possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively assist and engage with library users;
Attention to Detail: The ability to pay close attention to detail is crucial for tasks such as cataloging and maintaining accurate records;
Problem-Solving Ability: He/ She should be able to troubleshoot issues and find solutions to patron inquiries effectively.
Key roles and Responsibilities
Assist students, Faculty, staff and administrators in accessing reliable, accurate information through a variety of avenues;
Process new materials for circulation (Prepare new accessions, classify, catalog, book covering, barcodes, RFID tags, labeling, etc.)
Undertake minor book repairs
Weed or deselect outdated or damaged materials
Provide information literacy instruction designed to support self-directed, self-sufficient learning in a variety of settings and in a variety of instructional modalities;
Assist users on the use of catalogues and retrieval of information from the library collection;
Issuing library information materials to and receiving returned library information materials from the library patrons;
Sort publications, books and other literary items and return them to their proper shelves and storage areas;
Set up new accounts for patrons;
Maintain library equipment in proper working order;
Maintain records of new and used items received, issued, stored and returned, and file according to library system;
Ensure implementation of library policies;
Generate reports on a monthly basis;
Open and close library following normal business hours;
Secure library equipment;
Deal with problem or disruptive patrons, or refer them to the Administration;
Ensuring book shelves are tidy;
Ensuring library seats are well arranged in their proper reading desks/tables;
Participate in Community Service;
Work on shift whenever need arises;
To perform any other assignment by your Supervisor from time to time.
