Responsibilities
Assist in the preparation of breakfast, lunch, and snacks for students and staff as per the daily menu plan.
Assist in meal planning and developing new recipes as needed, and ensure that meals are cooked and presented in a timely and appealing manner.
Keep the kitchen area clean and organized throughout meal preparation and service.
Clean and sanitize all kitchen equipment, utensils, and surfaces after use.
Follow the instructions of the Head Cook regarding portion control, food preparation, and service timing.
Adhere to all food safety and hygiene regulations to ensure the kitchen maintains a high standard of cleanliness.
Report any kitchen equipment faults or safety concerns to the Head Cook promptly.
Assist in monitoring kitchen supplies and stock levels, ensuring ingredients are properly stored and rotated.
Notify the Head Cook when supplies need replenishment or when food items are nearing expiration.
Ensure minimal food wastage by carefully following portion sizes and storing leftovers appropriately for future use when possible.
Follow school policies and procedures for food handling, portion control, and dietary restrictions.
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head Cook or school management in line with the overall operation of the kitchen.
Qualifications:
1-2 Years of proven experience as a cook in a school or institutional setting.
Knowledge of food safety standards and hygiene regulations.
Diploma/certificate in Food and Beverage or Food Production from a recognized institution.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
Excellent time management skills.
Good communication skills to work effectively with kitchen staff and school management.
Basic understanding of nutrition and dietary requirements, especially for children.
