Security Supervisor – Vacancy Code (SS-24) (1 Position)
This position will be reporting to the Senior Security Officer of the University.
Job Purpose:
This position exists to plan, supervise, and coordinate security shift operations where the incumbent will lead and participate in the provision of security services such as monitoring, training, and assessing the performance of the security guards. They must conduct investigations and report on all security issues in the university.
Main Responsibilities:
He or she will supervise guards directly and ensure daily checklists are well filled and presented to the supervisor daily.
Shall ensure that guards report on duty 15 minutes to reporting time and that the assignment is fully covered.
Conduct random patrols within the university compound to ensure that all guards are present and have signed the required check lists.
Crowd control during events or any other gathering within the University as well as control of traffic flow.
Conduct team up parades and participate in trainings and refresher courses when required.
Ensure that all University security gadgets and equipment used in all access controls are operational and effectively utilized by the guards.
Participate in all University events including; Graduation ceremonies, wedding ceremonies, chapel services among other gatherings taking place in AIU.
Document all incidents within the university compound in the occurrence book and promptly report them to the supervisor without delay.
Record statements of security concern and carryout the investigations regarding the cases in question.
Resolve conflicts and misunderstandings between the guards as well as ensure that the personnel are alert at their stations and in their right uniforms.
Report any intrusion via fence boundary or buildings immediately without delay and record the same in the occurrence book.
Before making any major decisions while on duty, he or she shall consult with the supervisor promptly to prevent any potential inconveniences.
Foster positive relationships with all community members while working towards the achievement of the University's mission and vision.
Participate in enforcement of dress code and University core-values
Any other duties as assigned from time to time
Requirements: Qualifications and Experience
. Must have completed secondary school education and hold at least a certificate in a security-related field.
Should have training and experience in one of the following: police service, military, NYS, or supervisory-level work in a security firm.
Must possess basic computer skills.
Additional qualifications, such as firefighting, counter-terrorism, disaster management, or other relevant certifications, will be considered an added advantage
Proficient in both written and spoken English and Kiswahili.
Capable of working with minimal supervision.
Must consistently demonstrate faithfulness, honesty, and obedience to instructions from supervisors.
Able to work effectively under pressure while maintaining positive relationships with staff, students, and the wider community.
A committed born-again evangelical Christian.
