About the Client:
Our client is a leading innovative construction solutions provider in Kenya who has a proven track record of performance driven by solid knowledge and experience in the construction industry and is seeking to recruit an Accountant responsible for the accounting functions.
Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure payments are made to suppliers consistently, accurately and within credit terms.
Verify invoices against contract terms and other agreements.
Review transactions for completeness and accuracy including proper authorization for payment processing.
Prepare payment vouchers. Set up, monitor and perform reconciliations and accruals on a monthly basis for major suppliers paid by standard voucher.
Support the monthly accounting closing process to ensure accurate and timely financial reports.
Ensure that all documentation relating to payments are in accordance with all regulations and maintain a very high level of vigilance.
Answer supplier queries on invoices & payments. Verify vendor accounts by reconciling monthly statements and related transactions.
Reconcile Accounts Payable on a monthly basis (including Down payment Requests).
Maintain the vendor/supplier files and monitor the accounts to ensure payments are up to date.
Prepare and Process tax and statutory cheques/payments timely to avoid penalties.
Prepare and disburse accounts payable cheques.
Perform reconciliation of balance sheets accounts.
Assist in the accounts receivables analysis and modeling.
Participate in the interim/year end and the internal audit processes.
Track, compile, and record project costs in fixed asset accounts; close out the accounts at the completion of the projects.
Perform reconciliation of fixed asset subsidiary ledger balance with summary-level account in the general ledger.
Perform revision and update on the detailed schedule of accumulated depreciation and fixed assets.
Carry out periodic reviews on intangible assets\' impairment.
As may be requested by management, perform fixed asset related analyses.
Track Company\'s fixed asset spending in relation to its capital budget, as well as management authorizations.
Carry out the revaluation of fixed assets as required to comply with applicable standards.
Key Qualifications
Degree in Finance/Accounting
CPA (K)- Mandatory
At least three (3) years' experience dealing with taxation in Kenya
Experience in a manufacturing set-up
Competencies and Skills:
IT skills and prior use and knowledge of SAP would be of added advantage
High level of critical thinking
