Role Summary
Improving the livelihoods of communities surrounding Ol Pejeta through dry-land farming techniques, climate-smart agriculture, drip irrigation, and the development of market and enterprise opportunities for farmers in the community. Responsible for overseeing and managing water issues in the community.
Responsibilities:
Provide relevant training and skills development to community members on sustainable agriculture practices and scale-up successful experiences, e.g., Beans seeds, kitchen gardens,
Integrating livestock and crops through fodder farming, crop rotation, and planting of cover crops.
Lead stakeholder dialogue and consultation meetings with farming communities and link them to opportunities related to value addition in agriculture and livestock enterprises.
Coordinate the development and use of demonstration plots or similar agricultural development practices and the scaling of successful approaches and smart technology.
Support the development of increased market linkages for farming households. Linkages of farmers to service providers on water harvesting structures.
Provide relevant training and skills development to the membership of Water Resource Uses,
Associations within the conservancy. Assist in conflict management within the community if need be.
Support in M&E work within CDP and the landscape as required and guided.
Qualifications and Skills:
Qualification.
Diploma and above in the relevant field
Computer Literacy
Experience.
Minimum 3 years of relevant job experience
Motor vehicle/motorbike driving license
