ASSISTANT MORTUARY SUPERINTENDENT (JOB GROUP 11 ('H') - (5 POSTS)
REQUIREMENTS FOR APPOINTMENT
Be a Kenyan citizen;
Diploma in Mortuary Science from a recognized institution:
Proven work experience as a mortuary In Charge for at least seven (7) years;
Demonstrate a thorough understanding and commitment to values and principles as outlined in Articles 10 and 232 of the Constitution:
Ability to work in a multi-ethnic environment and sensitivity and respect for diversity;
Must have good inter-personal and communication skills;
Proficiency in computer applications; and
Satisfy the requirement of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Managing the day-to-day operations of the mortuary facility;
Monitor routine maintenance and repair of equipment on the premises to make sure they are used in accordance with health or safety regulations;
Take part in public events such as presentations or discussions to promote awareness of the services provided by the mortuary:
Take charge of procuring chemicals, consumables or materials required for multiple purposes like embalming, as per statutory procurement policies;
Coordinate with important networks such as the cosmetologists, death certificate clerks, funeral director, the bequeathal secretary, crematorium and other agencies: maintaining a high level of cleanliness on the funeral home or mortuary premises;
Overseeing the embalming, cremation, or interment of bodies;
Ensuring all activities comply with health and safety regulations, as well as legal requirements;
Assisting bereaved families by explaining the process and helping them make necessary decisions;
Ensure that the records of deceased persons, including death certificates and burial permits are accurately maintained;
Managing the mortuary staff, including training, and daily supervision;
Ensure proper maintenance of the facility and equipment, ensuring all are clean and in good condition; and
Any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time.
