The Deputy Production Manager plays a critical role in overseeing and optimizing all aspects of the production process within the company. This position is responsible for assisting the Production Manager in achieving production targets, ensuring quality standards, and maximizing efficiency while maintaining a safe and productive work environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling:
Assist in developing and implementing production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize resource utilization.
Monitor production progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and implement corrective actions
Quality Control & Assurance:
Oversee quality control procedures and ensure adherence to established standards.
Investigate and resolve quality issues promptly and effectively.
Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality.
Team Management & Supervision:
Supervise and mentor and support the production teams.
Together with the manager, conduct performance reviews, provide feedback, and address employees' concerns
Maintain a positive and motivating work environment.
Inculcate customer service culture in the department
Safety & Health:
Ensure a safe and healthy working environment for all employees.
Conduct safety inspections and implement safety measures to minimize workplace hazards.
Maintain employee and factory safety in OSHA compliance for the production department
Investigate and address safety incidents promptly.
Cost Control & Efficiency:
Identify and implement cost-saving measures in the production process.
Monitor production costs and analyze variances.
Continuously strive to improve production efficiency and reduce waste.
Process Improvement:
Analyze production processes and identify areas for improvement.
Implement lean manufacturing principles and other continuous improvement methodologies
Equipment Maintenance:
Coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure the proper maintenance and repair of production equipment.
Reporting, Analysis & Customer Service
Prepare regular reports on production performance, including key metrics such as output, efficiency, and quality.
Analyze production data to identify trends and make informed decisions.
Investigate/ escalate customer complaints and provide timely feedback for management action.
Conduct monthly stock count exercises.
Regularly and independently, check and explain stock balances.
Capture production in ERP system- Sage Evolution.
Manage an inventory movement schedule on a daily basis, Checking RE-order levels) Installation
Installation
Conduct site assessments in order to identify customer needs and provide appropriate solutions
Interpret design building designs and give recommendations on the best workable technical solutions
Coordinate installation jobs and ensure quality of work meets expectations.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills
Bachelors in engineering degree, with course work in production management, operations management, or a related field.
3-5 years of experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of production planning, scheduling, and control principles.
Experience with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
Proficiency in using relevant software (e.g., AutoCad, ERP systems, production planning software, Microsoft Office Suite).
Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
