Reporting to the Maintenance Leader, the Boiler Operator will be required to ensure that the production is supplied with steam all through for production targets to be achieved. He or she will also be expected to observe boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and make repairs promptly to avoid loss of production.
The main duties and responsibilities for this position entails:-
Support production 100% by ensuring that steam is available to production teams all through. Undertake timely preventive maintenance on boilers as per schedule to ensure Zero breakdowns.
Establish operation standards and ensure adherence to same during operation.
Draft and execute CIL (Cleaning Inspection Lubrication) as per standard and maintain line in Base Condition.
Always observe pressure, temperature and draft meters on panel to verify specified operation of automatic combustion control systems and feed water regulators.
Solve problems as part of daily work and participate in problem solving teams in line with continuous improvement.
Turns valves and adjusts controls to set specified fuel feed, draft openings, water level and steam pressure of boiler.
Observe boiler and auxiliary units to detect malfunctions and makes repairs, such as changing burners and tightening pipes and fittings.
Maintain log of meter and gauge readings and record data.
Any other role as assigned by the Mechanical Engineer or by management from time to time.
The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:-
Minimum Diploma in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or related field.
Minimum 3 years' experience as a boiler operator or utilities operator in a busy manufacturing environment.
Demonstrates strong collaboration, integrity & accountability.
Good planning & communication skills.
