Requirements for Appointment.
For appointment to this grade, one must have:
Diploma in Dental Technology from a recognized institution;
Have successfully completed one-year mandatory internship;
Registered by the Kenya Dental Technologists Association with a valid practice license; and
Proficiency in computer application skills.

Duties and responsibilities
This is the entry grade into this cadre having successfully completed one-year mandatory internship; the officer is expected to work under supervision of his/her senior. Work assigned to this officer should be of limited scope and complexity and should mainly involve;
Pouring of working and study casts
Fabrication of simple dental prostheses and appliances,
Ensure proper infection prevention and control measures,
Receive and record all patient work,
Interpret patient prescription,
Make work plans and implementation,
Participate in oral/dental health promotion.
