The job is critical in the implementation of transport services. The job holder is responsible for handling vehicles as assigned.
Job Description
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail:
Carrying out routine checks on vehicle's fueling, cooling, oil, electrical, and brake systems and tyre pressure;
Detecting and reporting vehicle defects on time; ensuring vehicle cleanliness;
Driving the vehicle as authorized;
Ensuring security and safety of the vehicle on and off the road, passengers, and goods therein;
Maintaining daily work tickets;
Ensuring routine service and maintenance of the vehicle;
Timely reporting of accidents and follow up of police abstract;
Taking vehicles inspection and keeping up-to-date insurance documents;
Ensuring that all documents are valid and well displayed;
Preparing periodic vehicle performance reports as required.
Qualification and Experience
For appointment to this grade, an applicant must have:
KCSE D+ or its equivalent;
At least four (4) years cumulative relevant work experience;
Valid Class BCE or FG (for Motorcycle Riders) Driving License free from any endorsement;
Suitability Test for Drivers Grade III;
Refresher Course for drivers lasting not less than one (1) week within every three (3) years;
First Aid Certificate lasting not less than one (1) week from St. John's Ambulance or Kenya
Institute of Highways and Building Technology (KIHBT) or any other recognized institution;
Defensive Driving Certificate from the Automobile Association (AA) of Kenya or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
Valid Certificate of good conduct from Directorate of Criminal Investigation;
Occupational Trade Test Grade II for drivers;
Certificate in Fleet Management from a recognized institution;
Demonstrated merit in work performance;
Basic knowledge of computer applications;
Fulfill the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
