Job Purpose:
The person in this role will be responsible for financial accounting, reporting, and analysis.
The position reports to the Finance Registrar.
Minimum Requirements
Holder of a Master's Degree in Finance from a recognized university.
Have nine (9) years of relevant experience, of which five (5) must be at the assistant manager level in a university, research institution, large public or private institution, or a comparable institution.
Be a holder of CPA (K).
Be a registered member of ICPAK and in good standing.
Have a certificate of proficiency in ERP systems for processing transactions.
Demonstrated outstanding qualities for leadership, coordination, and organization capabilities at the top management level.
Key Responsibilities
Analyze market trends and create financial forecasts.
Assist in the preparation of the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in line with set standards.
Analyze financial statements every month and report on variances.
Monitor and analyze the department's budgets to identify variances between actual and budgeted financial results at the end of each reporting period.
Perform cash flow forecasting and work closely with the operations and project teams in analyzing margins, variances, and cost analysis.
Coordinate the planning and development of operating budgets in collaboration with the University faculty and departments.
Maintain the Asset Register of the University.
Analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports and statements.
Prepare monthly financial statements and reports for the Management Board and ensure high integrity in the maintenance of debtors' and creditors' ledgers.
Supervise the preparation and remittance of statutory deductions and filing of the relevant statutory returns; supervise the posting of cash disbursements and receipts; and prepare bank reconciliations.
Manage the annual finance audit.
Financial staff management, motivation, training, recruitment, and selection.
