The Growth Catalyst and Market Development Specialist for the Kenya Network of Entrepreneurial Institutions (KNEIL) will play a pivotal role in bridging innovations with market opportunities. This position focuses on identifying commercialization pathways, conducting market research, and developing strategies to bring innovations to the market. The Specialist will work closely with institutional Technology Transfer Offices (TTOs) and other stakeholders to drive early adoption and maximize the impact of innovations.
Key Responsibilities
Commercialization Strategy Development
Identify and assess commercialization opportunities within institutional ecosystems.
Develop go-to-market strategies tailored to specific innovations, including product positioning, pricing, and distribution plans.
Collaborate with institutional TTOs to align commercialization efforts with organizational goals.

Market Research and Analysis
Conduct in-depth market research to evaluate demand, competition, and trends for innovations.
Analyze customer needs, market segments, and entry barriers to develop actionable insights.
Provide data-driven recommendations to refine product development and market entry strategies.

Customer Validation and Market Entry
Engage with potential customers and stakeholders to validate market needs and product fit.
Develop and implement market entry strategies to ensure successful launches of innovations.
Facilitate pilot programs and demonstrations to showcase innovations to target audiences.

Driving Early Adoption
Build strategic partnerships with industry stakeholders, government bodies, and end-users to promote early adoption of innovations.
Coordinate with TTOs and innovation teams to address customer feedback and improve offerings.
Develop and execute marketing campaigns and communication plans to drive awareness and adoption.

Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Building
Establish and maintain relationships with institutional partners, entrepreneurs, and industry leaders.
Represent KNEIL at forums, workshops, and networking events to promote its innovation agenda.
Facilitate collaborations between universities, research institutions, and private sector players to enhance commercialization pathways.

Reporting and Performance Metrics
Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as market entry success rates, customer adoption levels, and revenue generation from innovations.
Provide regular updates and reports to KNEIL leadership on market development activities and outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's degree in business administration, Marketing, Business Development, or a relevant field. A master's degree in a related field is an added advantage.
At least 5 years of experience in market development, product management, or commercialization within an innovation ecosystem.
Proven track record of successfully bringing innovation products or services to market.
Expertise in market research, competitive analysis, and product positioning.
Strong customer relationship management and stakeholder engagement abilities.
Proficiency in developing and executing product launch strategies.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Familiarity with innovation ecosystems and technology transfer processes is desirable.
