As a Hair and Beauty Trainer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, industry-relevant training to students in the Cosmetology department. Your focus will be on ensuring that the curriculum is effectively taught and aligned with national standards, preparing students for certification and success in their careers.
Key Responsibilities:
Curriculum Development & Training: Collaborate with the Head of Department (HOD) and
Principal to develop and implement comprehensive training programs that meet curriculum standards and industry needs. Student Instruction: Provide hands-on training in all aspects of cosmetology, ensuring students gain practical and theoretical skills.
Classroom Management: Maintain accurate class attendance registers, ensuring punctuality and engagement.
Inventory & Equipment Management: Keep a detailed record of tools and equipment issued to students, ensuring proper usage, maintenance, and safety.
Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols within the workshop during practical lessons to ensure a safe learning environment.
Reporting & Feedback: Regularly report to the HOD on lesson progress, student performance, and any concerns, offering constructive suggestions for improvement.
Facility Maintenance: Ensure that the training environment is clean, well-organized, and conducive to learning.
Administrative Support: Assist with exam preparations, result analysis, and related logistics. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to decision-making processes.
Inventory & Purchases: Support the preparation of requisitions and maintain up-to-date inventories of training materials and equipment.
Qualifications:
Diploma in Hair and Beauty (Cosmetology). NITA Grade I or its equivalent qualification. Kenya School of TVET Pedagogical Training Certificate.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in cosmetology training at a recognized institution. Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a creative and innovative approach to teaching.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with students and colleagues alike.
