Job Purpose
Reporting to the Trust Secretary, the Head of Investments and Strategy is responsible for leading and managing the investment portfolios of the DB and DC schemes. It entails working with fund managers to ensure optimized returns, enhanced market presence, while promoting sustainable long-term growth through effective investment strategies and innovative business development, all in alignment with the Scheme's goals and vision. Currently, the unit oversees assets totaling approximately Kshs.17 billion invested in various assets as per the RBA guidelines. The Job is on a five (5) year renewable contract subject to performance and Board of Trustees approval.
Key Responsibilities
Portfolio Management: Oversee the management of the fund's portfolio, ensuring diversification, identification of new investment opportunities and evaluating investment performance.
Risk Management: Identify and manage investment risks while ensuring compliance with regulations.
Investment Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive investment strategy aligned with pension fund objectives, risk tolerance, and regulatory frameworks.
Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate investment strategies to the Board of Trustees through the Trust Secretary and maintain cordial relationships with stakeholders.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and implement innovative strategies to improve fund performance.
Job Requirements
Education: A degree from an accredited university in finance, accounting, economics, business administration, or a related field. A Master's degree in finance, accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field will be an added advantage.
Professional Qualification: Be a Certified Investment & Financial Analyst (CIFA) or other related professional certification.
Membership to professional Body: Must be a member in good standing of the Institute of Certified Investment & Financial Analysts or other relevant certifying body.
Experience: At least ten (10) years' experience in asset management, pension fund and/or investment consultancy analyzing investments across a wide range of asset classes, including alternative asset classes with at least 5 years post qualification experience in a senior management role within the pension industry.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in management information systems software and knowledge of pension fund investments and regulations, excellent knowledge of portfolio management modelling and statistical analysis related to portfolio construction and risk management, Excellent knowledge of performance measurements e.g. GIPS standard.
