The overall purpose of the job is to oversee the daily operations and management of the preschool while ensuring the school is providing a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for the children that is in line with best practices and the institution's policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee the daily operations of the pre-school, ensuring that it is running smoothly and efficiently;
Develop and implement policies and procedures for the pre-school in liaison with the Deputy Head of School;
Develop and implement curricula and lesson plans that align with the set Ministry of Education curriculum guidelines and school requirements and policies;
Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the pre-school's educational programs and make necessary recommendations for improvements and adoption;
Manage and maintain accurate records of student enrolment, attendance, and progress;
Evaluate student progress and implement interventions as needed to ensure that all students are meeting academic and social-emotional milestones;
Accurately prepare pre-school meeting and events reports and submit to the Deputy Head of School;
Conduct regular staff meetings and professional development sessions to ensure that all staff members are aligned with the school's mission and values in liaison with the Deputy Head of School;
Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and standards related to early childhood education;
Respond to inquiries from parents and other stakeholders in a timely and professional manner;
Foster a positive and inclusive school culture that values diversity and promotes respect and kindness among students and staff;
Collaborate with parents and other stakeholders to ensure that the school is meeting the needs of the children and their families;
Ensure the preschool environment is clean, safe, and well-maintained;
Assist the Deputy Head of School in Planning and budgeting for educational trips and events within the school;
Prepare and submit the Pre-school's requisitions list to the Deputy Head of School for approval e.g. books and stationeries;
Attend meetings and conferences to stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices in early childhood education; and
Any other responsibilities assigned to the job holder by the supervisor from time to time
Qualifications
Bachelor in Early Childhood Education from a recognized institution
Must be registered with the Teacher Service Commission (TSC)
Minimum of 4 years relevant experience in Education
Desired Competencies and Attributes
Proficiency in using Microsoft Office
Strong knowledge of early childhood education theories and best practices.
Proficiency in using educational technology tools and platforms
Should be an effective communicator with the ability to handle both internal and external correspondences
Should demonstrate a proven track record in educational leadership such as classroom administration and instructions, lesson plans and pupil assessment
Ability to design lessons that teach curriculum in an engaging manner, applying various teaching methods
Strong supervisory and leadership skills to manage and control the department and assigned classroom
Should demonstrate ability to think and act critically and creatively
Should demonstrate ability to identify and respond to risk areas within the department
Should have effective people management and conflict resolution skills
Should be keen to detail
Understanding of child development and behavior
Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students and parents
