Responsibilities
Within delegated authority, the Human Rights Officer (Analyst/Reporting Officer) will be responsible for the following duties:
Reviews and analyses information collected and advises the Fact-Finding Mission staff on addressing gaps and following leads;
In coordination with the Investigation Team Leader, identifies gaps and orients the investigation accordingly; coordinates closely with the Legal Adviser to ensure information collected corresponds to the required legal elements;
Coordinates closely with the Gender Adviser to ensure gender perspectives are integrated throughout the investigation, and during analysis and report drafting, including on the gendered impact of the violations;
Prepares briefings, summaries of information gathered and analytical documents as required;
Coordinates the drafting of Fact-Finding Mission's reports, and any other report produced by the Fact-Finding Mission and acts as their main drafter;
Ensures that information collected is properly documented, in accordance with standard OHCHR methodology in coordination with the Investigation Team Leader and Coordinator;
Assists in drawing analytical conclusions; proposes the structure of reports and visualisation of the Fact-Finding Mission's findings and conclusions; assists in developing actionable and gender-sensitive recommendations.
Performs other duties as required.

Education
Advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent degree) in law, political science, international relations or another discipline related to human rights is required.
A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience
A minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible work experience in human rights, international humanitarian law or international criminal law is required.
A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the analysis and drafting of public human rights reports is required.
Relevant working experience in or on the region is desirable.
