KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Group Communications
The Internal Communications Officer will design and lead several internal communication campaigns each year. This may include building buy-in for our Group Mission, Vision and Values; Increasing transparency on key brands, projects, people processes and programs; engaging staff on organizational culture; leading staff engagement around business change and transformation processes
Ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees
Create core messages and materials to support those priorities, with regular editing and ghostwriting
Develop roll-out processes to ensure information consistently reaches staff at all levels, in all countries
Ensure internal communications messages are consistent across all mediums and for different departments of the organization
Ensure internal communication messages are consistent with external communication messages
Plan, edit and write content for a variety of internal communications mediums, such as a staff intranet (Yammer), monthly magazine or regular email bulletin.
Work the One Safal Magazine in collaboration with the internal team to ensure consistency of content, look and feel
Coordinate with BU Marketing teams to ensure that activities / events are launched internally and messages aligned across the Group
Work with CSR teams to ensure activities are highlighted and published across the Group
Work closely with the IT department to secure digital solutions that enhance the employee internal communications content experience

Staff Engagement and Feedback
The Internal Communications Officer will help senior leaders identify, prioritize, and respond to trends in staff feedback. This means developing a network of staff contacts across the Group to keep a pulse on the staff experience.
Speak monthly with People leads and staff at all job levels to understand how key messages are landing
Creating engaging campaigns that continuously leverage the organizations brand

Organisation Response in Challenging Situations
The Internal Communications Officer provides hands-on support to senior leaders managing teams through change or crisis to ensure employee safety and organization continuity.
Procurement responsibility
Closely work with the procurement department to secure competitive services and products that support staff engagement and communication.

Requirements
Qualifications required:
Minimum academic qualification:
A degree-level qualification, preferably in Media and Communications /Marketing and PR / Journalism/ business administration/development studies
Qualifications as an added advantage:

Experience required:
General work experience (years):
2- 3 years' experience within the communication space: PR / media / digital /eventing
1-2 years' experience within NGO/ Cooperate Philanthropy and sustainable development sector
Industry: Non-Profit Sector/ Public Relations / Media and communications

Key competencies and skills:
Strong leadership and influencing skills: Able to work with and influence senior management on a day to day basis.
High quality written and verbal communications skills
Well-developed organisational skills
High level of computer literacy, advanced skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, High level of interpersonal and communication skills
High level of attention to detail
Ability to establish strong working relationships
Demonstrated ability to use initiative and judgement
Proven ability to effectively work autonomously or in a team as required
Capacity to prioritise work & negotiate on conflicting timeframes
Demonstrated competencies in the provision of excellent administrative services
Knowledge of Internet/intranet and content management

Language requirements:
English
Kiswahili

Computer literacy:
Computer Skills: MS Office Suite
Social Media expertise: Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
