Key Responsibilities:Performing study specific assays, viral loads, UECs, CBC, CD4 count Malaria tests, Blood sugar, microscopy etcConducting screening and diagnostic tests for priority conditions in accordance with established protocols.Sample collection and handling: DBS for viral sequencing (VS) and pharmacokinetics (PK), Phlebotomy whole blood for viral load analysis and Infant DBS for Early Infant HIV Diagnosis, Hair samples preparation and storage etcPerforming maintenance and troubleshooting on laboratory equipment'sEnsuring appropriate Laboratory Waste segregation and managementAccurate reporting of lab results within acceptable turnaround time.Perform laboratory ART assays as per the study protocolMust participate in EQA Proficiency testing schemeEnsures adequate quality assurance measures with respect to reagents, equipment, and samples are observedSafe maintenance of accurate laboratory documents and LogsWork professionally and observe relevant ethical standards, competence, accountability and integrityGenerate daily summary reports in real timeOther duties as assigned by the Study CoordinatorVacancy Requirements:Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from KMTC or recognized training institution.Registered member of the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board (KMLTTB)Articulate in both verbal and written communication in English and Swahili.Trained on Good clinical and laboratory practice (GCLP)Previous experience in a busy HIV laboratoryExperience in rapid antibody HIV testing and counseling skillsExperience in community workProficiency in the use of data collection tools such as REDcAP, ODK and COMMCAREExperience in viral load sample collection and managementLaboratory Good Documentation Practices (GDP)Knowledge of commodity managementExperience in Rapid Diagnostic Test for Malaria, and Blood sugarAbility to work extra hours in the rural Migori CountyEnthusiasm for community-based development work.Natural ability to multitask, innovative, and work with others as a team to achieve objectives and resolve challenges
