Machine Operator -Plastics
Reports to:Factory Team Leader
The Machine Operator is responsible for operating plastic manufacturing machinery, including extruders and lamination machines, in order to produce polyethylene foam products. They must ensure that the machinery is running correctly and safely, and that it is setup correctly to produce the required parts. They must also inspect the parts for quality and accuracy, and troubleshoot any issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Operate and monitor plastic processing machines
Change dies and adjust equipment for production line change
Achieve relevant targets dependent on different products
Make adjustments to machines to ensure proper functioning
Perform regular maintenance and cleanliness of machines
Carry out quality checks and inspections of products and adjust machine settings as required
Maintain accurate records of production
Troubleshoot machine issues and make repairs
Carrying out routine maintenance (Preventive Maintenance)
Fixing machines that have broken down (Corrective maintenance)
Packing finished products

Minimum Qualifications, Skills & Knowledge
Diploma In Mechanical Engineering
2-3 years of experience in a manufacturing set up. Plastic experience highly preferred
Ability to read and comprehend operating instructions and safety guidelines
Knowledge of plastic extrusion processes
Ability to perform basic maintenance on machines
Maintaining and troubleshooting machinery
Familiar with standard operating procedures and health and safety guidelines
A quick learner and good listener.
