Job Summary
Reporting to the General Manager, Operations, Power Generation Manager, is responsible for overseeing the generation of electric power, operation, maintenance, rehabilitation and upgrading of power plant equipment & their auxiliaries and any infrastructural works in the region.

Duties and responsibilities
Ensure Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) targets are achieved by attaining plant availability and energy projection
Strategically plan for generation resource utilization, plant & equipment maintenance
Oversee operation, repair and maintenance of power plants, mechanical equipment, workshops equipment, tools, pipeline, earthmovers and building services equipment /systems
Rehabilitate and upgrade power plant equipment and auxiliaries through uptake of latest technology to improve operation and extend effective plant life
Offer leadership in construction, installation and commissioning of power plant, machinery and equipment
Coordinate preparation, monitoring, evaluation and reporting on maintenance programs, energy generation, projects implementation schedule and equipment performance.
Facilitate approval of plans for maintenance, projects preparation and implementation and energy generation
Ensure effective contract management and administration
Facilitate Supervision of design, install and commission of plant equipment of green and brown projects
Facilitate preparation, monitoring and absorption of budget for the Division and facilitate procurement of spare parts and equipment
Approve concept designs for procurement of either brown or green projects
Approve management reports and design drawings
Evaluate performance of employees
Ensure adherence to quality, occupational health and safety standards
Monitor and control operation and overhead costs
Maintain cordial relationship between the community neighbouring KenGen installations
Identify and develop talent for the division
Educational Requirements Job Experience/Qualifications
For appointment to this role, an officer must have:
A minimum period of twelve (12) years in a relevant field, five (5) of which should be in a management role
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical / Mechatronics / Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution and accredited by EBK
A relevant master's degree is an added advantage
Registered Professional Engineer with Engineers Board of Kenya in good standing
Membership with Institution of Engineers of Kenya in good standing
Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution.
Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
