OVERALL RESPONSIBILITY
Reporting to the Radiologist, the successful candidate will be responsible for the overall operations of the department, and for reviewing, developing, implementing, and maintaining policies and procedures necessary to achieve radiology services in order to support AKHK goals and objectives by providing administrative oversight through maintaining quality control programs and recommend outside sources of radiology and diagnostic imaging services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Oversee overall department's performance through monitoring of KPI's.
Develop, review and ensure adherence to radiography imaging procedures and standards.
Ensure quality imaging services in the hospital.
Ensure delivery of cost-effective services.
Ensure delivery of patient centered radiology services in line with established procedures and standards in order to contribute to overall patients' experience.
Ensure radiation safety standards are adhered to by patients, radiology staff and members of public during radiology procedures in line with the Radiation Act, 1985.
Ensure radiation emitting equipment have valid licenses and meet the quality assurance standards in line with the Radiation Protection Board guidelines.
Coordinate periodic maintenance of all radiology equipment in line with maintenance specifications and to ensure optimal operational efficiency of the equipment.
Manage radiology inventory including inventory control and monthly stock takes in collaboration with the relevant department to ensure optimal stock variance.
Identify professional development gaps and ensure implementation of appropriate professional development interventions for the radiography team in order to ensure the team has the right skills and exposure to best practices.
Keep abreast local and global best practices in radiology and make recommendations to the Head of Department on how this impact the hospital.
Manage implementation of the hospital approved quality management systems including ISO standards, Safecare standards, environmental management system (EMS), occupational health and safety OH&S), and JCIA among others to ensure full compliance of the radiology department to the guidelines.
Manage leave and absence of the radiology team in line with Hospital policy and procedures.
The requirements
Bachelor of Science in Radiography or Bachelor of Science in Health Systems Management or a related degree from a recognized institution.
Diploma or Higher Diploma in Medical Imaging Sciences/Radiography from a recognized Institution will be added advantage.
At least 3 years of administrative and management experience in a reputable Hospital set up.
Registration with a relevant professional body and in good standing.
Valid practicing license.
Knowledge of radiation safety standards.
Knowledge of quality management systems related to radiography.
Familiarity with JCIA standards and compliance requirements
