POSITION SUMMARY
As a Pharmaceutical Technologist at Beacon of Hope Hospital, you will be responsible for assisting in the inventory management of the pharmacy and related equipment on behalf of BOH and the CCC team, making sure all the required drugs are available and issued in the correct doses/ courses to the patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Dispense medications and pharmaceutical supplies according to prescriptions and established procedures, ensuring accuracy and adherence to dosage instructions.
Maintain an organized and efficient pharmacy workflow, including inventory management, labeling, and packaging of medications.
Verify and review prescriptions for completeness, accuracy, and potential interactions, consulting with healthcare providers as needed.
Provide patient counseling on medication use, side effects, and compliance, promoting understanding and adherence to treatment plans.
Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement pharmaceutical care plans tailored to individual patient needs.
Monitor medication storage conditions and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and best practices for pharmaceutical safety and security.
Participate in medication management committees and quality improvement initiatives to promote safe and effective drug utilization.
Conduct regular inventory assessments, order pharmaceutical supplies, and manage stock levels to ensure uninterrupted pharmacy operations.
Document and maintain accurate records of dispensed medications, compounding activities, and drug usage in compliance with regulatory standards.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Holds a minimum of Diploma in Pharmaceutical Technology from an accredited institution.
Valid and up-to-date registration and practice license from the Pharmacy and Poisons Board of Kenya.
Has a track record of proven experience working as a pharmaceutical technologist preferably in a hospital setting for at least 3 years
Thorough understanding of pharmaceutical principles, dosage calculations, and dispensing procedures.
Proficient in using HMIS software ADT and KEMR systems for dispensing and inventory control
Knowledge of pharmaceutical laws, regulations, and ethical standards governing pharmacy practice in Kenya.
Detail-oriented and systematic approach to pharmaceutical operations, ensuring precision and compliance with standards.
