Job Purpose
Lead the site Production function in providing both a reactive and proactive, multi-skilled production expertise on all production related activities. This includes overseeing production processes, ensuring safety and quality standards, optimizing resources, and driving continuous improvement initiatives. Increase the site operational effectiveness and efficiency, improve on project delivery, cycle time management, downtime reduction, manage and implement improvement plans while also driving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
Key Responsibilities:
Production Management:
Oversee and manage all aspects of the plant's manufacturing processes, including steel fabrication, sheet metal processing, and welding.
Develop and implement production schedules to meet customer demand while optimizing resource utilization.
Monitor production metrics (KPIs) such as productivity, quality, and on-time delivery, and take corrective actions when necessary.
Collaborate with engineering and design teams for product development and process improvements.
Quality Assurance:
Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure products meet or exceed industry standards and customer specifications.
Conduct regular inspections and audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
Lead root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
Cost Control and Budgeting:
Develop and manage the plant's annual budget, including labor, materials, and overhead expenses.
Implement cost-reduction strategies while maintaining product quality and safety standards.
Monitor expenses and analyze variances, taking actions to control costs effectively.
Safety and Compliance:
Ensure the plant complies with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
Promote a culture of safety, conducting regular safety training and audits.
Investigate and report any accidents, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
Team Leadership and Development:
Lead, mentor, and develop the plant team, including supervisors, production workers, and support staff.
Drive employee engagement and foster a positive work environment.
Identify training needs and facilitate skill development programs for the team.
Process Improvement:
Identify and implement process improvement initiatives to enhance productivity, quality, and cost-effectiveness.
Drive lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement culture throughout the plant.
Implement new technologies and methods to increase plant efficiency.
Inventory and Supply Chain Management:
Oversee inventory levels, ensuring raw materials and finished products are maintained at optimal levels.
Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely availability of materials and delivery of products.
Strategic Planning:
Contribute to the company's strategic planning process, providing insights into production capacity, capabilities, and potential growth areas.
Support business development activities by providing technical input and production feasibility analysis.
Qualifications and Skills:
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field; a Master's degree in Engineering or Business Administration (MBA) is preferred.
10-15 years of experience in steel fabrication, sheet metal, and welding industry, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of fabrication processes, welding techniques, and sheet metal work.
Experience with quality standards such as ISO, ASME, or similar.
Proficiency in production planning, budgeting, and cost control.
Demonstrated experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies.
Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
