The Project Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the overall implementation of a Waste collection project in Kisii ensuring quality control. The Project Coordinator will manage and support county-level stakeholders within the area to ensure seamless project implementation, conduct regular monitoring of sanitation promotion activities, and develop business cases for sanitation products in the county. The Project Coordinator will lead all project-related stakeholder engagement activities in Kisii.
Roles and Responsibilities
Coordinate the implementation of project activities in close collaboration with teams and relevant county government stakeholders.
Coordinate the design and development of comprehensive training materials on the practical application of market-based sanitation concepts, tools, and techniques.
Collaborate with relevant stakeholders, including government agencies, non-state actors, and private sector entities, to foster partnerships for sustained impact and coordinate training and marketing activities.
Review and approve bi-weekly and monthly work project plans while ensuring alignment with other stakeholder plans.
Design, plan, organize, and facilitate the implementation of project activities by creatively catalysing action and momentum in line with the Western Kenya Sanitation Project's overall outcomes and milestones.
Responsible for the engagement of Micro-financing institutions to increase access to sanitation loans and provide linkages between sanitation businesses and financial institutions.
Prepare activity/monitoring and evaluation reports on project activities ensuring that you define action points to strengthen implementation, and propose strategic, innovative emerging approaches for adoption.
Ensure the project budget is adhered to. Document all costs incurred, and reconcile with the Finance team periodically.
Stay updated and versed with emerging trends, innovations, and best practices in market-based sanitation and sanitation business development and utilize the learnings for effective program implementation and capacity building of other project staff.
Select, establish, and train sanitation businesses and financial institutions on market-based sanitation technologies relating to waste collection.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Environmental Health, Social Sciences, or related fields.
Project Management Certification is an added advantage.
3+ years of experience working with governments on behalf of organizations or policy initiatives in Kenya.
3+ years of experience in project coordination, preferably in WASH is highly recommended.
Experience in Market-based sanitation preferably in urban areas.
Experience in Business development of micro-enterprises preferably in the Western region.
Experience implementing USAID-funded projects is an added advantage.
