He/She will be responsible and report to the Utility Manager.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under minimum supervision, operates, maintains, and performs preventative maintenance on water supply pumps; performs scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures, ensuring all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly installed and include the following:
Switch on and switch off the pump to supply water to the system.
Ensure that the pump, pump house, and water systems are functional.
Report to the manager on requirements for operation and maintenance (O&M).
Adjust controls and/or valves on equipment to provide power, regulate, and set operations of the system.
Record daily master meter readings (in the morning and evening).
Record power consumption on a daily basis.
Inspect meters for authorized connections, defects, and damages such as broken seals.
Report any problems, such as meter irregularities, damaged equipment, or impediments to meter access, including gated houses.
Ensure all installations, repairs, and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
Prepare orders for supplies and ensure minimum stocks of materials to fix minor leakages and bursts.
Ensure meter reading is done by the 25th of every month and forwarded to the revenue clerk/WSO by the 27th of every month.
Ensure leakages and bursts are attended to without delay.
Ensure disconnections are done within a day of receiving a report from management.
Inspect meters and connections within a day after receiving a report from the utility management.
Line Patrolling
Undertake any other duty as may be assigned.
Minimum Requirements
Certificate in Plumbing and Pump Operations.
Diploma in Water Technology will be an added advantage.
Minimum of three (3) years' experience in a similar job.
A riding license will be an added advantage.
