The programme will provide the successful candidates with the opportunity to put into practice and implement their learned and academic knowledge in a field related to the work of WFP. This will promote better understanding of WFP Kenya mandate and programmes. Similarly, the programme will provide WFP with qualified individuals specializing in relevant fields in line with WFP's Strategic Objectives and the UN Sustainable Development Goals. WFP's activities include food assistance for relief, school feeding, safety nets, nutrition, and food assistance for assets creation through provision of in-kind and cash-based transfers. You will be part of an efficient and dynamic team that effectively support in the implementation of WFP's country strategic plan for Kenya.JOB PURPOSE SO1 team's key priority in 2024 is implementing the Refugee Transition strategy. This strategy envisages a shift from WFP providing food based on refugee status to one that will assess the needs and vulnerabilities of each refugee and tailor a mix of food assistance and resilience packages that will suit each refugee family. This means that WFP will stop providing the same food basket to all families in Dadaab and Kakuma refugee camps but will carefully analyse the needs of each family and provide a different food backet to each family based on their need. To accomplish this shift and as part of the strategy, the SO1 team will be engaging with key partners like UNHCR, Department of Refuge Services, Social Protection Secretariat, Kenya National Bureau of Statistics and County Governments to implement this. It is imperative that key processes and activities will need to be organised and documented to ensure effective implementation of the strategy. Besides the transition strategy, the SO1 team shall also be implementing various activities within the Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) portfolio. The position required a candidate possessing a robust background in documentation, data analysis, project management knowledge, a strong foundation in writing, research, with a great attention to detail. These skills will be crucial for documenting processes and creating comprehensive reports within these two areas. The ability to efficiently organize and coordinate tasks, meetings and events with WFPs will be a key deliverable of this role, considering the predicted engagements with different partners.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive) Under the leadership of Strategic Outcome 1 team, the intern will: Supporting the Refugee Transition Strategy, that incorporates shifting WFP Kenya refugee operations from a purely status based to a needs-based that will incorporate packages that have both humanitarian and development/resilience elements. Supporting WFP Kenya's Emergency preparedness and Response (EPR) activities targeting vulnerable Kenyans in Arid and Semi-Arid areas. STANDARD MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education : Currently enrolled in the University and have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies or have recently graduated from an undergraduate or graduate programme within the last 6 months from a university in Project Management, Data Science, Reporting, Monitoring and evaluation, Communication, or equivalent. Language : Fluency in written and spoken English and Kiswahili. Additional skills: Data Analytics and visualization & Proficiency in tools like Microsoft Word and Google Docs DELIVERABLES / OUTPUT Documenting key processes within the activities in SO1 including follow-up actions that will ensure timely execution of project milestones for the transition strategy. Setting up and managing meetings, organizing, and coordinating tasks and events both internally and externally to support the refugee transition strategy and the EPR work for SO1 Support in analysing and visualizing data, communication and collaboration with team members, stakeholders, and subject matter experts involved in the refugee transition and EPR SUCCESS CRITERIA Well documented processes and reports that will lead to a successful implementation of the refugee transition strategy and EPR activities for SO1 in 2024
