Research & Insights Officer, Specialist Consultant (Part Time) - Kenya Role Purpose To support the execution of market insight and analytics tasks at a regional level, co-ordinate activities, and ensure consistent implementation of activities, processes, systems and approaches. This role will support the tracking, collection and analysis of internal and external data through primary and secondary research. The research and insights officer will work closely with the regional Head of Insights SSA and SSA SBU Marketing teams to ensure analysis is linked to SBU insights and Marketing plans driving clear findings against set objectives. Main Accountabilities Insights Support: Supports the daily collection and entry of competitor data across key markets for Exams and Cultural Engagement. Supports the collection of markets/segment/audiences data from central internal and external sources. Supports the data collection/entry for quarterly Cultural Engagement and Exams insights packs. Support in admin tasks, tools, design and execution of inhouse primary/secondary research exercises (surveys, polls, etc). Conducts basic desk research. Supports the creation of data analysis summaries for regional, cluster and country marketing teams. Iterates data as required based on regional and country specific needs. Supports regional insights requirements, using existing templates and working with the insights and marketing team to develop new templates if required and providing support. Tests data accuracy and interference to gauge effectiveness and implements improvements based on results. Managing self and others Builds an understanding of the data context, opportunities and challenges, to ensure that data management and reporting is based on business needs. Seeks feedback from regional insights on data collection and analysis, making amendments based on that. Maintains and updates insights database across all regional platforms, ensuring it is up-to-date. Ensures all data is, consistent in terms of categories, quality and accuracy and optimised for use in insights and marketing plans. Relationship and Stakeholder Management Collaborates with the marketing teams in the regional insights and marketing teams to define, measure and improve data collection and analysis. Minimum/Essential Qualifications: Relevant degree or demonstrable equivalent level of experience Role specific knowledge and experience: Experience of data collection methodologies within a complex organisation Experience in analysing different sets of data. Experience using Microsoft excel or different database software. Stakeholder engagement Experience in managing and commissioning market insight and analytics tasks/projects and initiatives within a large and complex organisation. Additional information Payment Terms Freelancers and non-permanent workers will be paid either: A fixed fee for the entire project, based on their submitted rate card. An hourly rate for the time dedicated to the project, based on their submitted rate card. The rate card will be agreed upon at the time of contracting and will not be negotiable for the duration of the contract (maximum 2 years). Final payments will be made within one month of project completion, following the submission and approval of all deliverables. Project Completion Project completion is defined as the successful delivery of all agreed-upon deliverables, which may involve up to three rounds of feedback and revisions. Location: Nairobi, Kenya- Role holder must have existing rights to live and work in country applied for. Language requirements: Fluency in written and spoken English. Additional Considerations Intellectual Property: The ownership of all intellectual property rights created during the project will be clearly defined in the contract. Confidentiality: Freelancers and non-permanent workers will be required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) to protect sensitive British Council information. Insurance: Freelancers and non-permanent workers may be required to hold their own professional liability insurance. Taxes and Social Security: Freelancers and non-permanent workers are responsible for paying their own taxes and social security contributions. The British Council will not withhold taxes.
