About My Client:My client is a forward-thinking company at the forefront of innovative, customized solutions in the renewable energy sector.
They are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join their dynamic team.This role is based in Kenya and offers the opportunity to lead the design of high-end commercial and industrial solar systems, ensuring compliance with regulations, standards, and best engineering practices.Key Responsibilities:Lead the design of renewable energy systems, ensuring adherence to relevant regulations and standards.Conduct site inspections to accurately design and cost new projects.Develop project budgets and create detailed drawings for construction purposes.Perform necessary calculations and documentation for utility approval.Create 'as built' drawings and measure and create bills of quantities for installations.Accurately simulate system performances and productions.Participate in the commissioning process and assist with engineering-related operations and maintenance issues.Contribute to the creation of design tools for the engineering department.Support the Project Manager with engineering-related project issues.Lead a design team, including Project Engineers, Interns, and Draughtsmen, to complete designs.Review and professionally approve designs for compliance with regulations and standards.
Qualifications and Attributes:Proven track record of at least 5 years in similar engineering roles, such as solar PV, CHP, battery energy storage, wind, and green hydrogen.Self-starter and results-oriented with experience in working to deadlines with minimal guidance.Excellent computer literacy and proficiency in design and visualization software.Ability to manage multiple projects across various disciplines simultaneously.Strong organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Knowledge of applicable codes, policies, standards, and best practices (e.g., IEC, KEBS, or SANS).Ability to work within budgets and meet deadlines.Attention to detail.Minimum qualification of B.Eng, BSc.
Eng, or B.Tech Eng in Electrical Engineering.Valid T3 Solar Photovoltaic Technician License (other certifications considered).Registered with the Engineers Board of Kenya as a Professional Engineer.Experience living and working in Africa, ideally 1-2 years minimum.
