OverviewOVERVIEW OF WESTERN KENYA SANITATION PROGRAMME (WKSP)The USAID Western Kenya Sanitation Project (WKSP) is a five (5) year project which will be implemented in Busia, Bungoma, Homa Bay, Kakamega, Kisii, Kisumu, Migori, and Siaya counties. The overall goal of the project is to create a financially sustainable, transformative, replicable, and locally owned sanitation marketplace in the target counties of western Kenya. The objectives to achieve this goal are (1) increased access to and uptake PET00338 of market-based improved sanitation and fecal sludge management (FSM) products and services; and (2) increased access to and uptake of market-based improved MHM products and services at the household level.Through the achievement of the above objectives, it is expected that in five years, the target counties will have laid the groundwork for a financially sustainable, transformative, and locally owned sanitation marketplace, where customers can easily find and procure the products and services that they need and where enterprises are motivated to improve products and services and to invest in marketing and sales.The project is seeking to recruit an STTA Engineer on short term contract to support Engineering activities in the project counties. ResponsibilitiesPRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES Technical Assistance: Work closely with project partners to provide technical support in the in design and construction of sanitation facilities.Support in mentorship and coaching of trained installers and reporting progress. Skill Development: Identify skill gaps among artisans, business partners and assist in developing training modules to fill these gaps.Consumer Feedback Integration: Collaborate in integrating consumer feedback into product design to improve technical drawings.Database Development: Contribute to the development of databases of artisans Capacity Building: Assist in building the capacity of private sector actors to build and install high-quality sanitation products.Documentation and Reporting: Contribute to project learning documents, reports, and day-to-day support of specific county engineering project activities. QualificationsREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS It is expected that the team members must be able to work in a fast-paced, results-driven environment – with one team – one project concept. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, entrepreneurial, resourceful, flexible, independent, and energetic with excellent communications skills, cultural sensitivity and has demonstrated experience supporting technical assistance projects. Education and Professional Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Water, Agricultural, Environmental Engineering, or related Engineering fields.Knowledge of engineering software such as AutoCAD, Revit, or similar is an added Skills and Competencies.Strong technical and analytical skills.Ability to work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team.Excellent verbal and written communication skills.Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks and deadlines.Proficiency in Microsoft Office products.Willingness to travel across project target counties
