The main focus of the role is to implement and maintain best practice of environment, health and safety standards within the Green Leaf Threshing factory and the leaf centres within the country, as well as within Operations and Commercial Functions, in line with legal and corporate requirements. Deliver the sustainability roadmap for the operation, timely and accurate reporting of sustainability KPIs.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Operations/ Professional/ Business
Preparation and execution of the annual sustainability plans via IWS(Integrated Work System).
Daily inspection of the premises for identification of unusual activities/situations that may be regarded as potential hazards.
Daily monitoring of contractors' activities for compliance to the EHS guidelines and Permit To Work process.
Weekly inspection of first aid kits and collation of incident reports.
Monthly inspection of fire equipment, fire alarm and suppression systems
Carrying out induction training for all new contractor employees and site entry assessments.
Preparing and planning for EHS inhouse trainings.
Participation in incident accident investigations.
Monitoring of the waste management/segregation process.
Management of the fumigation and pest control programme.
Participation in project meetings.
Performance review of 3rd party vendors with regards to Sustainability.
Management
Ensure implementation of the fire alarm, fumigation ,maintenance of fire fighting equipment and effluent treatment contracts are carried out correctly and on time.
Ensure availability of adequate and quality personal protective equipment.
Ensure that all contractors fully understand the procedures to follow to safeguard the environment and the health and safety of their activities.
Execution of comprehensive risk assessments for all the key activities in the plant and leaf operations.
Ensure adequate and effective proactive controls are in place to mitigate all risks in the plan and leaf operations
Leadership
Co-ordinating internal EHS Reviews and audits.
Prepare and manage all EHS records and documentation.
Coordinate firefighting team in the event of an emergency and first aid team in the event of need.
Organize specialized inhouse training for first aiders and fire fighters.
Co-ordinating the various statutory/corporate medical check ups for staff and contractors onsite.
What are we looking for?
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another Engineering discipline. A qualification in EHS/Sustainability will be an added advantage.
5 years' experience in a factory set up (FMCG, pharma, oil and gas).
Good knowledge of MS Office package; SAP knowledge represents an added advantage.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
