Main Duties:
Monitoring standards of nursing care and other support services to ensure delivery of quality patient care.
Developing and implementing unit budget and ensuring operations are within the budget.
Addressing issues and concerns within the section to ensure internal and external customer satisfaction.
Submitting monthly activity reports to the management.
Updating staff on health and safety requirements to ensure a safe environment and compliance with the statutory requirements.
Liaise with various experts, consultants and section heads to achieve departmental and institutional goals
Ensuring adequate supply and proper management of staff, consumables and assets to maximize efficiency and cost controls.
Ensuring effective infection control measures.
In liaison with the Security Manager ensure adequate security at the premises throughout and report any incidents
Participating in quality improvement initiatives within the department and providing reports as required
Ensuring proper induction of new staff for smooth adaptation and correct practice.
Fostering teamwork among the staff.
Liaise with the Director of Nursing Services, relevant HODs and Head of Human Resources on disciplinary issues, complaints, improvement, performance appraisal and motivation.
Liaise with the Director of Nursing Services, the CPE, other relevant HODs and the Head of Human
Resources on identified training needs of the Nursing staff and initiate staff development programme.
Liaises with the clinical team and other departments on patient care.
Supervises and guides nursing staff on effective patient care.
Required Qualifications for the Position
Diploma in Nursing (KRN/KRCHN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN)
Higher Diploma in Perioperative Nursing (KRPON)
Registered member of NCK with a valid practising license.
Minimum 8 years in relevant field of which 3 should be in hospital theatre
2 years of managerial experience
