Overview ThinkWell Kenya is recruiting a Data Analyst to provide technical assistance and analytical guidance across a range of ThinkWell in-country projects.
The data analyst brings strong quantitative skills, typically in health financing and health services data, as well as a solid understanding of the design, and implementation of health financing policy reforms in Kenya.
ThinkWell Kenya provides technical support in various projects to strengthen the health financing function supporting countries to improve how funds are allocated to healthcare providers to achieve the goal of universal health coverage.
In Kenya, ThinkWell works at the County and National levels to design and test policy options, with a focus on strategic purchasing for primary healthcare.
The data analyst reports to the Senior Technical Advisor - Strategic Information and Learning This is a full-time position based in ThinkWell office in Nairobi, Kenya and the data analyst will provide support to the ThinkWell staff based in the counties.
WHAT YOU'LL DO •Develop and maintain data visualization dashboards using software such as Tableau, power Bi etc to support data analysis across ThinkWell's Kenya health policy and financing projects to generate insights to guide project implementation.
•Contribute to the development and review of data collection tools, templates, and protocols in collaboration with the Senior Technical Advisor – Learning and Strategic Information, Technical Advisors - Health Financing Programs, and Senior Program analysts to streamline data collection processes and ensure consistency in data capture.
•Coordinate the collection, compilation, and entry of data on health budgets, expenditure, UHC implementation, data on inputs such as human resources for heath (HRH), supplies, equipment, and other select key system inputs indicators on service readiness to inform tailoring of appropriate health financing technical support to counties and the national government.
in collaboration with the Junior data analysts, Program Analysts, and Technical Advisors as necessary.
•Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of data entry into designated databases or information systems across the workstreams as part of routine data collection activities.
•Implement corrective measures and validation procedures to improve data accuracy and reliability, ensuring that data collected is fit-for-use for performance management purposes.
•Support county-level monitoring, evaluation, learning and reporting activities on health financing and strategic purchasing.
•Support efforts towards effective data management to include creating, managing, and maintaining a data repository.
•Translate/shape/visualize data to make it more fit-for-use for decision-makers at different levels.
•Provide direct technical assistance to ensure high-quality program results and execution across projects in the area of specialisation.
•Contribute to work planning, monitoring, evaluation, and learning, including synthesis of strategic data for effective program implementation and development.
•Contribute to effective documentation and dissemination of learning products on health financing, supply chain, HRH, and strategic purchasing to different stakeholders to inform policy •Stay current with current trends in health financing and research methodologies to ensure the team is using the most effective techniques to gather, analyze, and visualize data.
•Represent ThinkWell in various meetings and actively engage key stakeholders Requirements 1. BA/BS and 5+ years' experience.
2. Demonstrated experience in data analysis in health sector and especially health policy and financing preferred 3. Experience and use of various data analysis tools, including dashboards development (STATA, Tableau , power B.I etc.)
4. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
5. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is required.
Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint is desirable.
6. Demonstrated poise and professionalism in supporting engagements with external partners, donors, and stakeholders.
7. Excellent analytical skills.
8. Ability and willingness to travel up to 50%
