Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe Deputy Director General for Health, will head the Technical Functions of the State Department. Duties and responsibilities at this level will include:- Supervising and coordinating of all technical Directorates within the State Department; Providing technical guidance in the formulation of Policies, Strategies, and Guidelines;Coordination of relevant technical working groups; andPerforming any other duties assigned by the Principal SecretaryFor appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-Served for a minimum period of fifteen (15) years three (3) of which should be in the grade of Deputy Director Medical Services/ Senior Medical Specialist- Pharmaceutical Services, Dental Surgery, Environmental Health, and Public Health, CSG 6 and above or in a comparable and relevant position in the wider public service or private sector;A Bachelors degree in any of the following fields: Medicine and Surgery (M.B. Ch.B), Dental Surgery (DS), Pharmacy (B Pharm), Environmental Health, Public Health or any other relevant health related field from a university recognized in Kenya;A Masters of Science in any of the following fields: Medicine, Pharmacy, Environmental Health, Public Health, Health System Management, or any other relevant health related field from a university recognized in Kenya;A Registration Certificate by relevant professional body where applicable;A Valid practicing license from relevant professional body where applicable;Demonstrated managerial and administrative capability, and professional competence in work performance and results; andExhibited a thorough understanding of global and national development policies, goals and objectives and ability to integrate them into the Ministry of Health function
