We have an exciting position of Legal, Ethics & Compliance (LEC) Manager, in the Middle Africa Affiliate of Novo Nordisk, reporting to the Head of Legal, Ethics, Compliance & Quality, Middle Africa.
This position is based in Nairobi, Kenya.
We are looking for an ambitious, proactive team player that has experience working in a corporate or busy law firm setting advising on Legal and Business Ethics Risks with a keen business and commercial interest.
The position As Legal, Ethics & Compliance Manager, you will provide Legal Ethics and Compliance support to the Middle Africa Affiliate comprising 49 countries.
You will manage complex and diverse issues of high priority and impact on Novo Nordisk, and will independently: • Handle Legal and Compliance matters arising from business activities, including in areas such as engaging with Health Care Professionals, Corporate Governance, Contract Management, Data Privacy, Competition Law and Employment Law.
• Train internal and external stakeholders on legal matters including Contracts, Data Protection, Business Ethics, among other relevant areas of interest.
Liaise with third parties serving the Legal Ethics and Compliance Department; ensure quality service delivery, review their terms of reference and retainer agreements, and assure compliance.
Coordinate Company Secretarial activities for the Legal Entities within the Affiliate • Implement global/regional Business Ethics & Compliance policies and procedures and support the strong ethical culture of Novo Nordisk.
• Network internally & externally and liaise with other business partners and external stakeholders to ensure business dealings in line with the NN Way and NN's Ethics Framework.
• Be the advisor on Business Ethics and Compliance issues; conduct internal monitoring, compliance risk assessments and due diligence processes.
Qualifications We are looking for a candidate with the following qualifications: • University degree in Law.
• At least 7 years of experience in a Legal department or law firm (licensed to practice law is an added advantage).
• Experience from pharmaceutical or multinational company is great advantage.
• Knowledge about data privacy.
• Fluent in English language is mandatory while fluency in French is great advantage.

About the department Novo Nordisk Middle Africa is part of BAAF (Business Area Africa) and covers 49 countries with approximately 120 individuals passionately serving vulnerable patients with diabetes, and other chronic diseases.
This role is part of the Legal Ethics Compliance and Quality team and is based in Nairobi with the core mandate of managing the affiliate's Legal Ethics, and Compliance Risks to ensure Novo Nordisk maintains its license to operate.
Our main activities include providing legal counsel and support in areas related to the business, ensuring ethical conduct and compliance with relevant regulations, laws, and standards.
